As early as the morning, sitting at our kitchen tables, we see images from around the world. Wars, crises, catastrophes — layered on top of one another until they lose their contours.
Lebanon slips through these layers. In Switzerland, hardly anyone talks about it. And when they do, it is usually in a very one-sided way. Based on the reporting, one might think that only Hezbollah is being fought in Lebanon. The reality is different.
Entire villages are disappearing. More than one million people are fleeing. And a healthcare system is collapsing — one that has already been operating at its limit for years.
That is why, on Monday, 27 April, at 6:30 pm (CET), three people will speak who know exactly what they are talking about. Experts who know the country like few others: Dr Nada Awada, a physician and medical advisor with many years of experience in medical crises on the ground. Dr Eduard Tschan, Country Director of the International Medical Corps in Lebanon from 2015 to 2024. And me — having been there myself until shortly before the outbreak of war.
We will talk about what is happening right now. About what is missing. About what remains possible despite everything.
