Mobile and stationary clinic for people without access to the healthcare system

The right to health is a human right, regardless of residency status, income, or origin. With our mobile and stationary clinic in Lebanon, we provide care to thousands of marginalized people every year.

A visit to the doctor should not be a luxury.

The situation

Medical care in Lebanon is precarious in many regions. Syrian refugees in the camps in Bekaa Valley are particularly affected – but many Lebanese families also cannot afford treatment or medication. Government support is in reality almost nonexistent, and private clinics are unaffordable for most people.

For these reasons, we offer medical care, medicine and emergency aid to people in the refugee camps and surrounding villages.

Our team treats over 9'300 patients annually – from toddlers to senior citizens – often for less than CHF 11 per treatment.

Our answer

The Mobile Clinic (since April 2021)
Our ambulance regularly visits refugee camps and remote villages. We offer patients the following services, among others:

  • Treatment of acute illnesses

  • Care for the chronically ill people

  • Prenatal care and child check-ups

The inpatient clinic (since October 2021)
Our local clinic is the point of contact for more complex cases and follow-up treatments that require continuity.

Coverage of hospital costs
If our capacities and possibilities are insufficient, we finance life-saving procedures such as cesarean sections or emergency operations in partner clinics.

Insights into the project

More than just medicine

Behind every number is a person. And behind every person is a story. Like that of little Vanja. After Borderfree covered the hospital costs for her newborn, a Syrian mother decided to name her child after our founder, Vanja. She was personally there at the time and had initiated the aid campaign.

This story shows that for many people in need, our help goes far beyond the medical. It is a sign of hope and solidarity.

This is how your donation helps

Your support enables the following aid:

  • Medication and medical care in the mobile clinic

  • Financing of emergency treatments and births

  • Continuity in inpatient care

  • Logistics, maintenance and wages for medical personnel

Above all, we need unrestricted resources to be able to respond flexibly to acute and changing needs and events, such as in 2024 when the Middle East conflict spread to Lebanon overnight.

Your contribution saves lives - every donation counts!

Your donation helps Borderfree to give hope and dignity to refugees and people in need in crisis regions. Please support us.
